Meet a Musician

lyricsHalf-way through our second project this spring we spoke to Ben, one of the musicians helping to deliver our sessions at HMP Wormwood Scrubs. Here is peek into a day in the life of a Finding Rhythms musician.

Hi Ben. What did you have for breakfast this morning?
Fruit… A banana and a Kiwi fruit.

What was the last song you listened to on your iPod?
A song called Polly, by Gene Clark.

What is your musical guilty pleasure?
My musical guilty pleasure is liking, OK rating, some very “pop-y” stuff that I really shouldn’t.

We’re going to have to ask you to name it.
Oh no! Ok… one of them I heard just today was that Comic Relief song that Ellie Goulding did – is it Ellie Goulding? But it transpired that it was actually a ‘60s song written by somebody like The Troggs…

If you could go back in time to any era, where would you go?
Interesting questions! Musically? The Deep South in the 1920s and 1930s. For the music, I’d do that.

What was your most embarrassing moment?
I think it was being a juvenile tearaway and damaging a bowling green the day before a Crown Green Bowls Tournament. We lit a small fire on the lawn and it was the day before the tournament, as luck would have it…

Watch this space for the release of our second album, featuring Ben’s virtuoso guitar playing, due to appear very soon!
