So Much Left to Say

At the beginning of this month we had the great honour of announcing our first patron; the legendary music producer, Robin Millar. Nicknamed “the original smooth operator”, Robin is most renowned for his production of Sade’s multi-platinum winning ‘Diamond Life’. He has won every major international music industry award and gained 150 gold / platinum discs including 44 No.1 hits.

.

Within a few days Robin sent us this. It is our first ever remix – a gift far greater than we could have imagined. Hearing one of our tracks reinterpreted by a music industry master is a moving experience, signalling not only how great the tracks are that our musicians are creating, but also how far Finding Rhythms has come as a charity over the past three years.

.

This track was particularly poignant for all involved because after it was recorded, the singer of the chorus “So much left to say” – a young man called Johnny – was transferred out of the prison because the mental health provision that he needed was not available. Robin Millar was captivated by the energy in his singing, which drove him to pick this track for his first FR remix. Johnny had so much left to say when he was removed from our course early and we only hope that he will have the chance to continue making his music where he is now. Have a listen and let us know what you think!
