We are currently recruiting for two roles.

Job Title: Project Manager – Prisons and Community

  • Place of work: Hybrid, we’re currently working in SE15 two days a week with home working on other days, there will also be occasional travel to visit projects
  • Salary: £30k
  • Hours of work: 37.5 hours (5 days a week)
  • Reports to: Business Director
  • Holiday: 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Contract type: full time, 12 months fixed term
  • Level of screening: enhanced DBS

Who we are

We deliver collaborative music-making courses for those at risk of offending, both within the prison estate and in the community. Our creative programmes use music industry professionals as coaches, who empower marginalised individuals to improve their lives. Our distinctive approach develops participants’ confidence, self-belief and transferable skills, preparing them for a better future in society and supporting their desistance.

Our culturally relevant practitioners use a people-centred approach, high quality production values and equipment which empower participants. Alongside music-making, participants are supported to gain a Prince’s Trust qualification in Personal Development and Employability Skills.

From the commencement of the charity to 31 March 2023 we have worked with over 750 participants in 36 prisons as well as probation and community settings, completing more than 80 albums of original music. Over 400 of our participants have achieved qualifications.

What we are looking for in this role

We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Project Manager to lead the delivery of projects which provide music-based collaborative courses for those at risk of offending or reoffending, either in prisons or in the community. You will have great attention to detail, be able to think ahead, anticipate and manage issues independently; you’ll have experience managing complex workloads and competing priorities, and have demonstrable experience in the community and/or criminal justice sectors. You will be passionate about music’s ability to transform lives.

Main responsibilities

  • Managing all stages of the set up and delivery process of projects in prisons and the community to ensure the programme is executed effectively 
  • Managing and liaising with practitioners and partners to ensure projects are executed to a high standard
  • Assembling appropriate teams for effective project delivery and administering contracts
  • Quality control (including ensuring lyric policy is met) of musical outcomes including commissioning artwork and planning release strategies
  • Managing effective equipment resourcing on projects and maintaining inventory of assets
  • Ensuring impact from projects is recorded through monitoring and evaluation processes
  • Reporting to the Directors regularly on project delivery including impact, areas for improvement and escalating any issues
  • Administering the Prince’s Trust and evaluation data collection, ensuring quality and quantity of output
  • Supporting the marketing of our charity and the programmes we deliver
  • Representing the charity at events eg listening parties, project visits
  • Ad hoc tasks as required, as Finding Rhythms is a small organisation, flexibility is required in every role so we can help and support each other wherever necessary

Previous skills and experience

Essential

  • Previous demonstrable experience of community and/or criminal justice sectors
  • Project management experience 
  • Experience in engaging and working with freelancers
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • An interest in music
  • Leadership skills and experience

Desirable

  • Experience of monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience of completing risk assessments and managing health and safety issues
  • Marketing and/or communications experience
  • Technical knowledge of music equipment

  • Salary: £25k-27k
  • Hours of work: 37.5 hours (5 days a week)
  • Reports to: Business Director
  • Holiday: 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Contract type: Fixed term, 9 months (maternity cover) with possibility of extension
  • Level of screening: enhanced DBS

You will have demonstrable experience of working in the community and/or criminal justice sectors. You will be passionate about music’s ability to transform lives.

Main responsibilities

  • Supporting the set up and delivery process of projects in prisons and the community to ensure the programme is executed effectively 
  • Liaising with practitioners and partners to ensure projects are executed to a high standard
  • Administering contracts to practitioners and partners and completing risk assessments of projects
  • Administering invoices and payments related to projects and supporting on charity finance admin
  • Supporting music equipment resourcing on projects and maintaining inventory of assets
  • Supporting the music post-production process including commissioning artwork and planning release strategies
  • Ensuring impact data collected from projects is recorded and shared as necessary
  • Administering the Prince’s Trust and evaluation data collection, ensuring quality and quantity of output
  • ​​Administering security clearances & DBS checks of practitioners and staff 
  • Supporting the marketing of our charity and the programmes we deliver
  • Representing the charity at events eg listening parties, project visits
  • Ad hoc tasks as required, as Finding Rhythms is a small organisation, flexibility is required in every role so we can help and support each other wherever necessary

Previous skills and experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in an administrative role within a multi-project environment 
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and attention to detail 
  • Previous demonstrable experience of working within community and/or criminal justice sectors
  • Experience of completing risk assessments and managing health and safety issues
  • Experience of engaging and working with freelancers or project-specific staff resources
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable

  • Experience of monitoring and evaluation
  • Marketing and/or communications skills
  • Technical knowledge of music equipment
