‘6 Days L8r’ HMP Dovegate Album Release

Towards the end of last year we held a project at HMP Dovegate in Staffordshire. This was Finding Rhythms first time at the prison, and being there was extra special as our music course was something specifically requested by the prisoners themselves.

Over two intensive weeks an album of 23 original tracks were created by the men, working alongside two Finding Rhythms practitioners, Fred Harper and Tom Ireland.

“Music is a chance to channel the emotions we tend to cover up and turn them into something beautiful. For this group of lads, who mostly hadn’t met each other, to open up amongst the group and articulate their stories with such finesse – it was a true pleasure  to witness. This project exemplifies their versatility as musicians and takes listeners on a roller coaster ride through sound!” Tom Ireland, Finding Rhythms Practitioner.

We are proud to be releasing this album of original music during the first January Jail Jam week, #PrisonMusicWeek, which is available to stream and download for free over on our Bandcamp account.
